KS2 English Skills 4 (Year 5)

Key areas are constantly revisited, giving pupils the intensive and rigorous practice that is essential to embed learning and prepare for the Key Stage 2 national tests. The English Skills pupil books each contain 36 one-page tests featuring 'Warm-up' exercises, 'Word work' questions covering spelling, word structure and vocabulary and 'Sentence work' questions covering grammar, punctuation and sentence formation. 
At the end of each section a 'Writing task' encourages children to apply what they have learnt in their own writing, while a 'Proofreading task' further reinforces learning. Additional features include a glossary to support the confident use of literacy terms and a progress chart to allow pupils to monitor their own skills.English Skills 4 aligns with the National Curriculum end-of-year expectations for Year 5 and covers the following topics: relative clauses; formal and informal language; modal verbs and adverbs to show possibility; adverbials; pronouns for cohesion; punctuating a parenthesis; and vocabulary for effect.
