KS2 English Skills 2 (Year 4)

Key areas are constantly revisited, giving pupils the intensive and rigorous practice that is essential to embed learning and prepare for the Key Stage 2 national tests. The English Skills pupil books each contain 36 one-page tests featuring 'Warm-up' exercises, 'Word work' questions covering spelling, word structure and vocabulary and 'Sentence work' questions covering grammar, punctuation and sentence formation. 
At the end of each section a 'Writing task' encourages children to apply what they have learnt in their own writing, while a 'Proofreading task' further reinforces learning. Additional features include a glossary to support the confident use of literacy terms and a progress chart to allow pupils to monitor their own skills.
English Skills 1 aligns with the National Curriculum end-of-year expectations for Year 4 and covers the following topics: fronted adverbials; expanded noun phrases; determiners; pronouns to avoid repetition; apostrophes for plural possession; Standard English verb forms; vocabulary and grammar improvements; and spelling rules and exceptions.
